A Long Way Off
"And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him."—Luke 15:20
Coming back is the hardest thing someone will ever do. It requires us to push through the challenges, obstacles, hurts, hang-ups, guilt, and shame. This is a journey that's hard to take, but many do, especially when we run out of choices. Yet on the other side of the journey is a loving Father eager to accept. He's not what you would expect. He is awaiting our arrival. He is perched anticipating. He is excited to share kindly emotions. He is longing your embrace. All this awaits the one who is brave enough to return. And Jesus is clear; you're coming back to a person—not a concept, not a church, not a worldview, but a person—God himself. So why put it off one more second?
DO THIS: Be brave and come back to God.
PRAY THIS: God, I need your help today. I feel unloved by everyone, including myself. Help me to know what it's like to be loved again.
