A Response To The SCOTUS Leak On Roe v. Wade

I speak to Christian men all the time about our apathy to God's will. Because it's our apathy that led to the first sin and that resulted in every sin thereafter. Today, we live in a sinful world because men have been apathetic to God. Yet God designed us for action. Adam, the first man, was given authority, voice, and a single moral rule by God. Yet, at the moment his leadership was needed the most, he said nothing and did nothing in the face of injustice and sin. He said nothing and did nothing when temptation was upon him and his family. Therefore over many years, I have tried to help men speak and live differently — in obedience to God.

But the place obedience must begin is with us. We must speak and act against our own propensity to sin. We do this by submitting our desires to the leading of the Spirit and keeping in step with God's will, not our own. Secondly, we must address sin by teaching biblical truth within our family. If men did both of these regularly, we would have a very different world. Just think about it. If Adam had done this, he might have significantly impacted that dreaded moment in Genesis 3. But he, like every man, was apathetic to God, and we get broken men, broken families, and a broken world.

And hear me in this, this law is not legislated by SCOTUS. The Supreme Court of the United States does not determine what is right and wrong for me as a Christian man. God does. I follow him and his law. So while I might be elated about some of the wording in a recently leaked draft document, what it might mean for state's rights and for the rights of the unborn because I believe abortion is an atrocity, I am not going to put my faith in SCOTUS, or the men and women of that court, or their rulings in the coming months. I still believe heaven has a divine court, a more just judge, and a holy government led by a man in whom I put my faith — that man's name is Jesus.

So fellas, here are a few things you could do to speak up and act out as God's man:

First, in the coming days, don't let the media blizzard sway you toward putting your faith in a human government, human judges, or humanism. Put your faith only in Jesus. He is our only judge.

Second, start speaking up and acting out for righteousness in your own life and lead your family to do the same. The impact of this action done over a lifetime is significant.

Third, maybe it's time for you to find a reasonable, sound, and biblical answer to the injustice of abortion. If you don't have one, you should. And I would ensure that you find a way to talk about this with others in a way that could potentially lead another person to know Jesus Christ.

Truly awesome take on what we may have read or been caught up in (if we just listen to the news). Remember, God’s got this, not the new or any other media.

  2. Heath says:

This is the same Supreme Court that wouldn’t hear cases about the 2020 election for fear of riots and harm to their families. What was leaked was a draft not the final decision, which means the decision that comes down in 2 months can be completely the opposite of what was leaked and honestly I would not be surprised if it was. The leak was intentional, something to rally people who support abortion to anger and most likely violence. It is meant to intimidate the Justices on the Supreme Court, and they have already proven to be susceptible to intimidation.

Our government is utterly corrupt and the current administration has already proven they don’t care about the Supreme Court’s decisions. They will circumvent the courts and the constitution to have their agenda fulfilled. If the SCOTUS overturns Roe v Wade, there is nothing stopping the wicked politicians from passing a new law regarding it, or Biden from using executive orders, or the administration using bureaucratic measures to keep it in place.

Vince is right. We shouldn’t put our trust in the government. We need to speak the truth according to the Word of God, pray for our leaders whether they be evil or pure and trust in God.

Personally I like to pray one of David’s prayers in these situations:

“Since they hid their net for me without cause and without cause dug a pit for me, may ruin overtake them by surprise— may the net they hid entangle them, may they fall into the pit, to their ruin.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭35:7-8‬

I love how David was so open and honest with God. I know Jesus said to love your enemies and pray for them……we can pray for their hearts to change and salvation, but I also don’t see anything wrong with praying they will be exposed for their wickedness and fall into their own traps. 😉

Thank you Vince for speaking up and empowering men to do the same. Abortion is not a women’s issue alone. Men at part of it. A number of men at our last retreat repented of there part in an abortion. Ironically this “ leak” came out the next day. Repentance moves the heart of God and keeps us focused on Him. Thanks

    Vince,
Great commentary on how to respond to the SCOTUS leak to believers and non-believers.

  5. Bryan Claseman says:

Vince – great message! Let’s focus on helping others understand the import message and salvation of Jesus Christ. As a result, they will live according to his law regardless of what laws man makes or does not make. Legislating Christian values will not cause/force others to become a believer or cause them to want to follow God and his laws. Let’s help them understand God’s grace.

  6. Mark A. says:

Great commentary, Vince. I suspect the draft was leaked by a law clerk for one of the liberal justices — hoping to rile up their side. But it will backfire.

  7. Jesse S says:

Great word Vince! We need to find the courage to say NO to the things and people that are not serving us if we want to rediscover ourselves and live our lives with authenticity.

  8. Robert Miranda says:

Amen 🙏🏻. So powerful n encouraging n challenging. Thank you brother.

  9. David says:

In order to not look to our government regarding SCOTUS. Men teach abstinence, save the union experience for marriage.

  10. Don says:

We as men need to pray today and the days to come. I believe the draft decision was leaked on purpose. I may not need the court to determine right from wrong for me, but many people today do. Pray for the Holy Spirit to soften hearts and minds so they can be open to God’s truth now more than ever

  11. Don says:

Good words today Vince. Everything you said is truth, apathy is what got us to where we are today.
