“And Jesus cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I have come into the world as light so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.” John 12:44-47
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10
Jesus was the perfect example of a man who never strayed from his mission. A mission that was in the mind of God on the day Jesus was born. A task that both revealed God and His plan of salvation. Jesus came to save the world, to seek and to save the lost. And in doing so, He leads men into a God-given reason to live.
All men wrestle with purpose. Questions about who they are and what they are meant to do swirl in the minds of men at the most honest and sobering of moments. Jesus paints a picture of focused determination. His arrival ushers in a man that defines what it means to live on mission. And as His disciples, we get a glimpse into our purpose. The moment a man realizes his goal is the moment that he feels great empowerment. And that empowerment is a life aimed dead center at the target of what a man ought to be. That is a gift, and that is Jesus.
