For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 1:26-31
A paradigm shift is a concept identified by the American physicist and philosopher Thomas Kuhn. A “paradigm” is the way a man sees the entire world and all the resulting implications. If a man understands his purpose to be found in obtaining enormous wealth, his whole activity is arranged to support it. A shift in the way the world is seen results in significant change because it affects every other area of life. There is considerable wisdom in the coming of Jesus and life He lived.
Even His very humble entrance into the world was not what was expected by the rulers, or any man, of that day. God chose not to strong-arm His people into behaving differently. He provided the ultimate change agent in Jesus. Every aspect of His life, not just His death, is the very wisdom of God lived out as an invitation to participate in God’s calling. We are invited to live in a new paradigm exemplified by Christ. Jesus is a paradigm shift, an advent of wisdom.
DO THIS TODAY: Think humility in everything while boasting in the Lord.
