All-In Commitment

Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me."—Matthew 16:24

Jesus was no coward, even though that's the impression some have of him. Jesus was an adventurer, calling us into a great adventure. He understood that the Christian life was not for the faint of heart, in light of the imminent trials that were to come. So the commitment he called us to was an "all-in" commitment. A path of no return, which renounces the path of least resistance. It's a commitment that denies self of certain privileges, endures trials that others will not, and follows in the strides of someone greater.
