Anticipate
Truly I tell you, I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.—Mark 14:25
There are a few times in life you'll stop to think about what heaven's like. Often we'll feel that it will be very different from our present experience. But Jesus, someone who has been there, suggests that there are similarities—like eating. So in preparation for his impending death, he has a final meal with his closest buds. While this could have been a somber moment for them, Jesus turns the moment toward a mood of anticipation. While it's the last meal, it's one eaten in eager anticipation of that first meal we will enjoy in heaven with Christ once again. So why not live today on the edge of your seat? Be in eager anticipation and stop being somber. In just 25 days, Jesus is going to break through time and space and be born on planet earth to usher in a new season. Get ready for incomprehensible joy.
DO THIS: For the next 25 days, we are going to be reading from Old Testament and New Testament verses that prepare our heart for the anticipation of Jesus's birth. I would encourage you to share these with your family and friends. Let's turn their hearts from somber toward incomprehensible joy.
PRAY THIS: God, may my family and friends be stirred to anticipate one of the greatest days in all of history, the coming of incomprehensible joy in the life of Jesus Christ.
