Anticipate Home

But when Herod died, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, “Rise, take the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for those who sought the child’s life are dead.”—Matthew 2:19-20

The feeling of coming home after a long trip is filled with fantastic emotion. I wonder how Mary, Joesph, and even the young Jesus felt during this journey back home. They would be seeing family and friends for the first time in a few years. What I think is spiritually moving about this moment is that God wants them fo feel the comfort of going home. Sometimes in challenges, we don't feel like God cares about our comfort. However, when it appears He doesn't, maybe He is providing a refuge in the challenge so that He can provide us comfort in the future?

DO THIS: Live in the future comfort in that God is calling us all home—one day

PRAY THIS: God, I sometimes get down by my present circumstances but fail to remember this is just a stop on the way home. Help me live in the comfort of the home while living in the discomfort of the present.
