Anticipate Refuge

Now when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.”—Matthew 2:13

Matthew clarifies that it's a dream in which the Lord appeared to this protector. The Lord appeared and spoke directly to this father, man, and leader of his family. This moment demands a response from Joseph, who is the world's temporary protector of the one who would bring salvation to all men. So Joseph responds with urgency and takes refuge in a nearby country where King Herod's influence would not reach. Ironically it's the child whose leadership would have no boundary, and in 33 years it would be him all mankind, in all time, would take refuge.

DO THIS: If you need an escape, take refuge today in Christ.

PRAY THIS: God, I need to be rescued today. Take the anguish of my life and save me. Let me shelter my life within the safety of your boundaries.
