Anticipate Small Beginnings
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
though you are small among the clans of Judah,
out of you will come for me
one who will be ruler over Israel,
whose origins are from of old,
from ancient times.”—Micah 5:2
God himself speaks these words within the book of Micah somewhere around 700 B.C. We receive clarity about two items in this prediction, first from whom and second from where the ruler would come. From whom? The lineage of David. From where? The town of Bethlehem. But note the detail—small. Bethlehem is a town small in size and small in significance located just five miles south of the bigger and more significant city of Jerusalem. While this town was small and less significant in its day and still is today, two notable leaders were born in this town—King David in 1000 B.C. and Jesus Christ around 6 B.C. Never underestimate small beginnings, great things sometimes arise from there.
PRAY THIS: God, thanks for the confidence I can have in your promises. For being specific with this promise so that I can have confidence in my faith.
