But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate, and she also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths. Genesis 3:4-7
Nothing takes down men faster than apathy.
By definition, apathy is a lack of interest or concern. It is the opposite of passion, and it is taking down men. Let me share a little of my apathy and how getting over it changed my marriage. I was the man who had a difficult time praying and leading my wife spiritually. I had no troubles leading those under my care within my church, but I did not spiritually lead the wife God gave me. I worried about what my wife would think, knowing all of my struggles, if I initiated a regular prayer and bible reading habit with her. She loved it, and it dramatically changed our relationship and family.
Notice in Genesis 3 how Adam is with Eve, yet says nothing and does nothing? There was an evident lack of any passion from Adam about following God at this moment. Standing right there, he participated instead of act on what God had told him. And then, after being called out by God, he blamed the woman and God instead of taking responsibility.
Think of the difference that can be made if men passionately followed God and led those around them. From personal experience I can tell you, it made a significant impact in my life. Take spiritual action and see what happens.
