BE WITH JESUS

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition.

Acts 4:13-14

This scene penned by Luke must have been an incredible one to take in. Many words describe what is going on here, multiples of those are about vision and perception. The religious leaders of the day were getting an eyeful they could not make sense of. Peter and John were somewhat of a contradiction in their midst. Unusually bold, yet without no formal training or education. What made these men uncommon? Peter and John were unusual because they spent time with Jesus.

There are days I tend to feel like I am not enough, especially spiritually. It can be easy to focus on producing a spiritual result or only settle into apathy and give up. What we see in Acts is that these spiritual giants had just spent time with Jesus. Jesus said it this way: " Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me" (John 15:4). That was it, time with the Master Teacher results in growth. Spending time with Jesus produced a result that spoke for itself.

DO THIS TODAY: Set aside 15 minutes to pray and be with Jesus.
