BE WITH JESUS
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus. But seeing the man who was healed standing beside them, they had nothing to say in opposition. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. So they ordered them to withdraw from the Sanhedrin and then conferred together. “What are we going to do with these men?” they asked. “Everyone living in Jerusalem knows they have performed a notable sign, and we cannot deny it. Acts 4:13-16
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. Proverbs 13:20
This scene penned by Luke must have been an incredible one to take in. Many words describe what is going on here, multiples of those are about vision and perception. The religious leaders of the day were getting an eyeful they could not make sense of. Peter and John were somewhat of a contradiction in their midst. Unusually bold, yet without no formal training or education. What made these men uncommon? Peter and John were uncommon because they spent time with Jesus.
The results speak for themselves. Spending time with Jesus produced a result that spoke for itself. Men become like those they spend time with. This was true when Jesus walked the Earth as much as it is true today. Being near the Master will bring about transformation as it did in the lives of His disciples. Walk with Jesus, and you will become a different man.
