The Choices You Make Here Are A Big Deal
Remember, our next book is 1 Timothy, and I have titled this series — It's Time To Clean Up The Church. So get ready for some hard-hitting teaching for our modern church. Head over to the website as you get time to get your 1st Timothy Scripture Journal. So our text today is from Daniel 12:2. And it reads:
And many of those who sleep (death) in the dust of the earth (inactive) shall awake (active/resurrection), some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. — Daniel 12:1
So we are getting close to the end of Gabriel's explanation of the vision to Daniel. Here we learn about the resurrection, which is the first mention of the resurrection in the Old Testament. I believe Gabriel shares this with Daniel to give him hope and clarity in light of all the wars, tribulations, and sufferings leading up to the end of time. He's reminding him that mankind will encounter many situations that look like the end, but they are not. And here's why — there is no end. Nothing ends but time itself. Take, for example, physical death. Death in this text is called "sleep" because it's a temporary physical state. It may look permanent, but it's not. There will come a time when all mankind will be raised from this illusion of death (physical sleep) to a new physical state that never ends. And the choices we have in the present time have a bearing on this "everlasting" state — meaning our choices here impact our eternal state there. The options are either everlasting life for those who chose Jesus Christ or everlasting shame and contempt for those who do not.
Fellas, don't be confused. The only thing that ends is time itself. You will live forever in a perpetual state: everlasting life or everlasting contempt. But you only get this time to choose which side of that eternity you will be on. And I hope that you will choose to join me and many others in eternal life.
If you are ready to make this choice for the first time, you can do that today. Accept, believe, and confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior by faith. Surrender all of your life in this time to him and live all in for him who lived all in for you, and you will receive the gift of relationship and everlasting life with him.
ASK THIS: Do you want eternal life?
DO THIS: Surrender all your life in this time to Him!
PRAY THIS: God, I surrender all my life in this time to you!
PLAY THIS: I Surrender.

Some how I haven’t been receiving your daily devotions. I do listen to him everyday.
Terrific explanation and reminder of how simple it is to receive God’s gift of salvation and how important it is to make wise choices that will determine your eternity. Thank you!
Great Devo Vince! A reminder to all of us to ask the Lord to have His way with us. Total surrender!
Just ordered my 1 Timothy Journal. Let’s do this!
Jesus, I am in your hands. My wife, Ann, is in your hands. Navigating her breast cancer and all the treatments has been very hard, but you have given us the strength to grind on because of our faith in you, Jesus. You carry our burden when we can’t. Your promise of everlasting life strengthens our love and faith in you.
My family and I choose life in the Kingdom.
AMEN! There is no such thing as a mortal man. Thank you Jesus for saving me from everlasting contempt!
I have made the choice for everlasting life many times in my life, but the first time was 20 years ago in high school thanks to my next-door neighbor who took me to church after me not being in church regularly for most, if not all, of my earlier childhood. The second time I made this choice was just 8 years ago and I rededicated my life to Him and have been growing strong in my faith ever since. I hope and pray that all the men that read this devo find the freedom that comes from surrender to Him that I have and want to be yoked to Him instead of the world also because those are the only two choices – carry the weight of the world by being yoked to it, or carry the weight of the Savior, who has INFINITE strength and makes the burden light. Amen.
Amen! Without a doubt, the greatest decision I’ve ever made. Jesus is Savior, Lord and King of Kings!
