Goal: Thanking In Prayer
Fellas, thanks for hanging in there; it's day five.
So today, we are focusing on thanksgiving in our prayer time. Too often, we don't talk with God about what we are thankful for in our lives. What a huge missed opportunity.
You see, God is always working, but we're not always paying attention. An "attitude of gratitude," as some people have called it, helps to increase awareness that God is working in our lives. Learning to communicate this in our prayer with God does several things for us. It keeps us from becoming overly self-focused. It demands reflection on past, current, and future events. It requires us to make spiritual connections to what God is doing. And finally, it gives us time to tell God thank you for what God has done, is doing, and will do.
So today, I want you to make a list of 5 things you want to tell God thank you for in your life. Be specific, not general. Write them down on a scratch piece of paper or in a journal and then pray about them, out loud, for 5-minutes, during your scheduled time.
When you are done, comment below by sharing one thing you're thankful for.
I am thankful for a Savior and Good Shepherd that carries his sheep who are laboring and are heavy laden. I am also thankful that HE gives us rest as we navigate the fiery trials and storms of life!! Matt 11:28-30.

One of the things on my list for thanksgiving is my wife. While this may seem like a cop-out answer, it really is something I have been thanking God for lately. Since May of 2019, I have been in graduate school as I prepare for ministry as a Chaplain in the Army Reserve. This has meant long nights working on homework as she took care of the house and kids. I wouldn’t be able to do what I am preparing to do.
I am thankful for God’s patience with me.
My wife she’s always there for me even when I’m grumpy sad happy joyful she’s always there beside me
I’m thankful for Eagle Brook church, my opportunity to be involved in youth ministries, and my small group, all of which have made me examine my walk with Jesus, study God’s word, and have God honoring people to do life with.
Many things in life I can thank God for both past and present. One I would like to share with you all is about my daughter. Almost 10 years ago she came into this world at 26 weeks gestation. Born at 2pound 5 ounce she was given less than 5% chance of survival. I look back now and although I didn’t really understand I am certain I now that I can thank God that we will celebrate our daughters 10th birthday son.
Thank you lord for seeing my daughter through her early struggles and blessing us with her beautiful (and sometimes a handful) personality. Her heart is filled with so much love.
WOW 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Amazing story.
I am thankful that my business is still in business, and that through it, I have the opportunity to touch and changes lives.

Thankful is my easiest. Yesterday’s confessing is not always easy for me to remember and bring up.
So thankful for God giving me strength to get thru the thought events, especially past job losses and moves.
I am thankful for my family, specifically my kids. We have been really trying to encourage our children to give thanks for one thing every time they pray. We have also been trying to be thankful when we pray with our children when our prayers are answered. This was very timely for me.
I’m thankful for my salvation. Without it I wouldn’t have some of the other things I’m thankful for or I would be unable to fully appreciate them
Thankful for my wife & son, the reason that I started this challenge.
thankful for a wife who is walking my cancer journey with me. I know it is hard on her, but she is there for me. She is a Godly woman.
God’s grace.
Being thankful to have God in my life, for what he has done and what lies ahead.
So much to be thankful for! Again reflecting on blessings in each of the 5 F areas help me remember so many blessings that God has brought into my life especially a healthy, loving eternal, abundant relationship with Him, His Son, and His Holy Spirit.
I’m grateful for my Wanda. She is truly a gift from God! She and her boys and grandchildren and extended family especially Diane and the Neals have become the center of my life!
I am thankful for God’s provision of: my wife of almost 39 years; my three daughters; jobs and meaningful careers; income; a comfortable and affordable home; food to eat; safety; and for God continuing to pursue me, even though I don’t deserve His blessings.
I am thankful for my wife and how Loves God , Loves Me, and Love Others.
There you go. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
I am thankful for your wife (my sister) as well!
Thanking God throughout the day for what God and I had accomplished.
Lord, thanks so much for preparing me for a stronger faith. Thanks for the opportunities (health issues stage iv lung cancer, money issues over extended, marriage issues, porn addiction , roaming eye etc) in my life to challenge and grow my faith. Because of these things and not getting anywhere with me trying to fix then I decided to go all in with you and let you handle them. Lung cancer at bay, marriage is better than ever and my faith is stronger than ever and I have the best relationship with God that I have ever had.
I’m thankful to still have a job this year when so many people lost jobs.
I agree with you!
I am thankful for the health of my family, immediate and extended!
Thanking God for His salvation and blessing me with His forgiveness.
The most grateful thing from my God is salvation. It brings me the greatest peace I can imagine in my mind. Not knowing what anything meant in my life for the first 54 years before I was saved produced untold distress. Now peace reigns supreme in this chaotic world.
I am ridiculously thankful for my wonderful, beautiful wife of 27 years.
I’m thankful for a lot today and everyday but I’m thankful my families health in these uncertain times.
One thing for which I’m thankful is my relative good health (although I do have several of the aches and pains of a 70 year old man). I’m thankful that I am healthy enough to do yard work and travel to visit family and friends and participate in ministry opportunities that God has presented to me.
Praise the Lord, Jerry. 🙌🏼 🙌🏼 🙌🏼 🙌🏼

I’m thankful for the 5 F’s. I mean I truly am thankful for my faith, for my family, for my friends, my finances, and my fitness (which I’m currently 25 lbs. away from achieving, lol ).
When I think if something I am thankful for, i selfishly and immediately think of Gods beautiful nature. I cannot think of anything better than getting up early and going to catch fish with friends and family. Even if it’s cold out and I forgot my coffee, theres no place I’d rather be. Thank you God for creating such a beautiful nature!
1. Family, both blood and spiritual.
2. Health, for my kids, wife, and I.
3. Financial freedom and house.
4. All the sins and addictions the Lord has taken from me.

Finding out about this ministry through my church where a men’s group is starting and going to be going through Foundations and building from there. This is what I so needed right now in my life and to know I am NOT ALONE out there as a man.
The one thing I find I am most thankful for, is the people God has surrounded me with.
I’m thankful for my 5 F’s. Family, faith, fitness, friends and finances. Specifically my father who recently moved in with me. We have not always been close and sometimes argumentative. We’ve been closer over the last year or two, but still pretty distant. He’s not in the greatest of health so hopefully this is an opportunity to reconcile and reconnect.
One of the things that I am thankful for is the growth that is happening within my marriage over this past year regarding communication. It has been amazing to see the work that God has been doing to help me open up more with my wife concerning things and her as well.
Thankful for breath in my lungs, a Loving God, faithful beautiful wife, wonderful kids and Gods provision.

I am thankful for my wife.
I am so thankful family, friends and a good support group. I am able to get advice, mentoring and encouragement as I take on the challenges of life. God has been so gracious in providing all the basics and that is all I need!
It’s funny because the challenge was to spend 5 minutes thanking God, but there’s something about expressing gratitude to the Lord that you get immersed in. I am thankful to God for His tender mercies I see daily as He has completely restored my marriage of close to 10 years. We were at the brink of divorce, but then I become furious in my faith and God hit Satanas with a quick 1-2. God is good!
Something that I am thankful for is my family. Now I know that sounds cliche, but the way I think about it is that God would trust me enough to raise one of his children and to love and protect his daughter. To be a father and a husband is a privilege that God bestows upon us. I am great full.
I’m thankful for Shepard’s Table. By far a group of men that are some of my closest friends. I’m thankful to be able to do ministry with them and grow with them.
My wife who is my Best friend
My wife
My health. A chance to be forgiven.
For the community I live in and the friends we have made while living here.
Thankful that no matter where I’m at that God finds a way to draw you back to Him.
I am so thankful for God’s love, mercy and grace. He shows me every day, in new ways how much He loves me. I have been blessed with a wonderful, Christian wife and three awesome boys. I don’t deserve any of these things – I sin far too often and make a regular mess of things on my own. God has helped me learn that His love overcomes all of my shortfalls. I simply need to trust in Him. Thank you Jesus!!
Thankful for my Family
Thankful for the unseen ways God is working around and through me to accomplish His will.
I am thankful for my health.
Thankful for breath- simplicity of life, for family and brothers, for dear friends, for A Loving- triune God, who listens to our prayers, and increasing awareness that i am NEVER truly alone any more because He is with me. Praise and thanks are two things that God cannot do for us. We must do, and what a privilege it is!!!
I thank God for the presence of parents in my life. Not just biological parents but I’ve had people in my life who have carried me under their wing in various fields of life.
My family
Thankful for my family and my health.
Thankful for the victory god have given me wowowo
I’m thankful for meeting my soulmate Kari. So grateful for her love!
My first thoughts were to family, my job and my health. I did pray for those, but then when I went deeper I realized I was most thankful for my salvation and God’s sovereignty. Through Jesus (my salvation) I am now a child of God. I am a child of a God who is all powerful and all knowing. He is in control of everything. I am so thankful for that.
While I suffer from several medical issues, I am thankful that God has led me to people who can help with some of them. I am thankful for the nearly debilitating back issues I suffer from. It has given me more time to be able to reach out to my brothers and sisters in Christ to encourage them, to lift up their needs in prayer to God and to let them know they are not alone.
I am especially thankful today for God’s perfect timing. He has recently brought about some events in my life that have made me realize that he has a plan for all of us, and that we don’t always have to understand why sometimes he makes us wait for things we may not want to wait for.
God has been so good to me. I have no reason to be anxious or stressed.
I am thankful for my son.
The life God has blessed me with!

Gods Grace,
Amen, to that Tom
I thank God for my Bible Study Fellowship class.
HOW God has changed my life, for the better, since I rededicated my life to Him in the past 5-6 years. I still struggle with lust and anger issues, but they are no longer DEFINING characteristics of my personality, they are as they should have been in the first place, out of place and rare occurrences.
I am thankful for my salvation, my faith, roof over my head, food on my table, be able to go to church freely.
I am thankful to God for sending his son Jesus to earth so we can be saved from our sinful existence.

Thankful for God’s provision. Seek Him first in all things- He will take care of you.
I’m thankful for supportive family and friends I can talk to about my faith.
A good nights sleep and a compelling reason to wake up in the morning….
Men to disciple, couples to counsel, and friendship provide accountability both ways.
I am thankful for my wife Kelli. She is amazing and am so thankful for our friendship as we go into this empty nester stage of life.
I’m there but remember it is not an empty nest but a more roomy nest! We are staying in our nest! (Plus we are blessed to gave 3 granddaughters that visit our nest!)
Hello Guy’s, Like many of you there is so much to give thanks for, My thankfulness to the Lord reigns as number 1. it fulfills , or causes the other four points I had written down to be possible.
I’m truly grateful for students who express gratitude for what they receive at Southern, and not just from me. I got a brief but poignant reply to an email last night that reminded me that this is NOT a generation of entitled, ungrateful young people, as the stereotype claims. There are many who are aware of the privilege it is to be here, and they inspire and challenge me to remember that it’s also a privilege for me to be part of this learning community.
I also noticed that I struggled with making all my gratitude items performance-based: “I’m so thankful that I got THIS done and completed THAT and didn’t fall into this OTHER pitfall, blah, blah, blah.” This is an opportunity for me to focus on what God has done, and acknowledge that even what I seem to have done is only possible because of Him. Man, self rears its ugly head every chance it gets, huh?!
God’s mercy and grace.
So thankful for my son-in-law and for God’s promises in His holy word that He will protect and preserve His servants.
I’m thankful for turning over 246k miles on my truck and it’s running great. Thankful for God’s good and faithful provision in all things.

I am thankful for my family that God has for me. I pray that our actions may glorify God’s name with praise.
I’m thankful for my wonderful wife and son, Anne and Daniel.
I am thankful for so much! God has blessed me with an amazing wife and kids. I’m so thankful for the relationship I have with them. I have a job that is a joy. I’m thankful for what Jesus did on the cross. That has given me and all who trust in HIM, eternity, life, joy, hope, peace and forgiveness.
I am thankful for my brothers in Christ. We can hold each other accountable
family/ friends, salvation, health, job/employment, a warm home for a place to gather, eat sleep and relax.
Grateful for passion God puts in us, vision for the future.
So thankful for forgiveness
It was easy to think of things for which I am thankful, but it was difficult to narrow down 5 -specific- things. There are some obvious things, and some not-so-obvious. There was an honorable mention that I was obliged to throw in there as a “bonus 6th,” but immediately, at the top of my list, secular list though it may be, is my mother. Specifically her, among my entire family. She may not REALLY understand what I have been going through (unfortunately I am stubborn in insisting that she cannot), but she certainly is trying, and every now and again, she actually breaks through. May God continue to bless her in the odd ways He does…
Grateful for another day, grateful for my health, grateful for my wife, grateful for my job and the opportunity to be a blessing to others, grateful for JESUS!!
So many things to be thankful for that picking just one is so hard. Being able to serve in ministry as Ranch Director is where God is growing me the most.
I am so very grateful for having a business that is ministry driven. My wife who is my closest friend, and I are able to partner on this together. It’s an amazing gift from the Lord.
My health
Thankful – for so many things but, above all else God’s Grace.
I am thankful, eternally thankful to God, Jesus for my salvation and the blessing I receive from Jesus, Holy Spirit daily.
Thankful for my wife and our two beautiful daughters
This one is tough because as a father and husband the immediate obvious would be that so besides those very important two things that I am thankful for, I am thankful for the strong men in my life that have helped me through this difficult walk called a pure Christian Faith. Without them mentoring and pushing me to seek my relationship with our Heavenly Father and to find best practices to better my daily sin struggles, I would be truly lost. Vince, you are one of these men and I am forever grateful!
I thank Jesus for my believing wife.
Loved ones.
I am thankful for my son getting the support he needs at school. Thank you for good teachers who care.
I am thankful for God’s faithfulness. 2019 has been a year of restoration for me which he spoke over me in January 2019. The restoration continues!
I am thankful for health and strength to do the work I have been blessed with this last week, cleaning snow off of roofs and driveways.
One thing I’m thankful for is my wife. She is my rock, she loves Jesus, encourages me, she’s selfless, hardworking, caring, joyful, loving, intelligent, beautiful, and an amazing mother to our girls
I am thankful for a deeper relationship with Jesus this past year – lead by committing to morning devotion and prayer time each morning. Thankful that this has made me a better husband, father and business owner.
I’m Thankful For God not giving up on me.
I am thankful for Patrick who forwarded me this challenge email (day 5) that I did not receive.
I’m thankful for a Praying Mother!! It’s my mom that first drew the line in the sand against the enemy and said “NO MORE DEVIL”…the curse stops here. This doesn’t mean we’re perfect and all is peaches and oranges, but the course of our family has changed forever. Through her dedication, persistence, and sacrifice, the generations of our family will grow more and more for God!
I’m thankful for God’s faithfulness toward my 3 adult children. Even though there’s no evidence that they follow Christ, He’s still kept them from many dangers.
