Divine Counsel

ENGLISH

Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them to present himself before the Lord. — Job 2:1

Because we live in a natural world, these divine meetings appear unusual to us. Yet they shouldn't be. A supernatural God created us. In fact, as followers, we declare belief in a divine supernatural and spiritual being. And the unseen spiritual world is just as real as this physical experience. And because God is a one of order, he convenes a meeting. One that might run a little more effectively and efficiently than the ones we attend. Even with a fallen angel in attendance— Satan.

Two important reminders here. First, we are reminded that God is orderly. He gathered the "sons of God," or "angelic beings" together for some check-in or presentation meeting. In this, we assume that God commands the order of all things in the spiritual world, and he does this in an orderly fashion. Second, we are reminded that God is in control. Notice that even Satan is not "off the hook" for attending this routine angelic gathering. This assumes that God continues to command authority over fallen creation and Satan, who has been given dominion over the earth.

So as you walk into the chaos of your day, be reminded that there is a divine spiritual world. And while this world looks to be out-of-control, know this: God is one of order, and nothing in this life is out-of-his-control. Even Satan and his workers of lawlessness.

ASK THIS: What appears out-of-control in our world? (Share this in the comments below)

DO THIS: Remember, God is in control. It might do you well to say this a few times to yourself throughout this day or even write this down on a note on your desk — GOD IS IN CONTROL!

PRAY THIS: God, I shout from the depth of my heart — "You are in control!" when I feel I am not.

PLAY THIS: Look Up Child/You Say.

The world is out of control, but God is still on the throne and we all must seek Him and His wisdom through this chaos. We need to steer clear of the distractions to maintain steadfastness is this spiritual warfare. The battle is fierce. 2 Timothy 2 :3-4 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in concerns of civilian life; he seeks to please his commanding officer.

Social media and the national news. The self righteousness and hypocrisy is appalling. Admittedly, I too succumb to these.

Gentleman …. was praying regarding all this and the utter chaos of this world… besides being reminded of the temporal nature of this world and it’s possessions…
our home is in eternity not here. A simple set no my grandma used to sing came to mind….
🎶 why worry when you can pray,
🎶 trust Jesus each and every day,
🎶 don’t be a doubting Thomas, 🎶 just rest upon his promise,
🎶 why worry, worry, worry, worry, when you can PRAY! 🎶

It was unfortunately obvious that Satan has control over the fear of many just look at those who were terrified of dying of Covid. We all have to understand, God knows where we are and when he want us he will come get us, GOD IS IN CONTROL!

Our company is becoming more and more corporate with decisions being made by people disconnected from the employees and customers. Changes in hours and pay plans that are hurting decades long employees are being made based on observations on spreadsheets, and even worse, personal history or axe grinding. More and more I feel like I’m wasting my time working this hard and watching most of my coworkers being treated like a number or a “position” instead of a person. It’s deflating at best and at worst makes me angry. Decision after decision is being made with zero input from anyone outside the corporate bubble. I’m sure this sounds familiar but this used to be a far differently run company. I look around and I see much of the same in our society where people are being grouped together by color, income level, etc, then separated and used as needed socially and politically and it feels chaotic and headed for a cliff

circumstances in my life seem to be out of control more days than not, today is no different. Thank You God that all of these circumstances are temporary and that You are eternal.

  7. Nick says:

My world is out of control. I am deployed with the Minnesota national guard, daily retrograde and the unknown and choas daily is very taxing emotionally and spiritually. This morning i woke up to a text message from my fiance that she had been unfaithful in our relationship, along with the stress of deployment this is so devastating. Reading this devotional this morning made my heart a little lighter, and a blessing to focus on. God is in control!

    • Kevin says:

Praying for you Nick. God is in control and He has His best planned for you. That is not always what we think is best but He knows all that has happened, is happening, and will happen. Blessings to you and thank you for your service!
