Do Something Hard

"And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross." Philippians 2:8

As a man, you prefer the path of least resistance over the path of greatest resistance. Just notice how you execute your day. How you avoid problem people, do the work we like most first, and put off addressing your issues until the last moment. Every man does this to some degree. But this is not always the best choice. Sometimes we need to do the hard thing.

The verse above is in the middle of one of the great paragraphs in the New Testament. In context, it's talking about Jesus and how he lived. But note his form (human), his character (humble), and his obedience (the hard path) while embracing a mission of death and one of the most painful forms of death known to mankind - crucifixion. In this Jesus demonstrates that his man must, will, and should do hard things.

As God's man do something hard today. For you maybe this is reading God's Word more consistently. Or for others, it could be sharing your faith. Or perhaps it's taking a stand for what is right, justice, and moral in the face of sin and injustice. But don't be a wuss. Be a man and go hard after God.

DO THIS: Do something hard for God.

PRAYER: God, please give me an opportunity to do something hard today. And help me to decide to honor you and not bring attention to myself as I do it.
