If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8
When the wind is blowing on the water, drifting is inevitable.
I love being in a boat on the water. It doesn’t matter if it is a fishing vessel on a large body of water or a small canoe on a river. There is something relaxing about the rhythms of water and how it tosses a craft back and forth. The weather conditions are essential when on the water. The wind influences both the watercraft and the water itself in very violent ways at times. If a boat is not actively steered, the wind will cause the craft to drift. A man’s life is no different.
We must know the conditions and direct our lives. There is no way around it; we will experience a variety of differing wind speeds, directions, and potentially dangerous storms in life. Staying resolutely grounded in faith that God is who He claims to be and will do as He promised must be rooted in the activity of our mind. To doubt God is like letting the bow of a canoe turn aside in the wind. The wind will quickly grab the craft and reorient it and its contents. Be single minded and stable; laser focused on God through faith.
DO THIS TODAY: Ask God for wisdom and confidently wait on Him.
