"The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

You'll hear people say it all the time. "Pursue your passions." "Follow your heart." "Do what you feel is best." Well if this is the advice you are getting you may want to ignore it. Here's what God's Word says about a man's heart. "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9) And Jesus added, "For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts," (Mark 7:21) Perhaps the better answer is not one found in our hearts with its desires, longings, and passions at all. But rather outside of us in "the Lord who establishes our steps."

DO THIS: Stop fighting God and let him establish your every step.

PRAYER: God, help me to stop getting ahead of you. But also help me not to stay too far behind. While I plan and scheme, my plans are always faulty because they usually favor myself. Today order my steps and may I keep lock-step with you.
