Dress For Action Like A Man
Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind and said:
“Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
Dress for action like a man;
I will question you, and you make it known to me. — Job 38:1-3
So at the end of the drama, God enters center stage. Job has been through a major ordeal. But the ordeal just became more significant. A whirlwind appears out of which God's voice thunders. God ignores everyone and focuses all his attention on Job. And God is about to present him with a litany of questions. Unanswerable questions.
And then his thundering voice states this — "Dress for action like a man!"
Every time I read this, it just sends chills down my spine. I cannot imagine hearing it from God. But eventually, we will all face this encounter. We will all hear his voice. Jesus says this about this day.
When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. — Matthew 25:31-32
Knowing that this day is coming for us all, today is the day to prepare. Now, not later. And we must be dressed for action. And Isaiah, the prophet, tells us how to dress for this moment. He states:
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord;
my soul shall exult in my God,
for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation;
he has covered me with the robe of righteousness. — Isaiah 61:10
The only way to dress for action and stand before God is to clothe yourself in his righteousness and not your own.
ASK THIS: Are you ready to stand before God? (Share this in the comments below)
DO THIS: Cover yourself in his righteousness, not your own.
PRAY THIS: God, forgive me for trusting in my righteousness. Make your righteousness mine own.
PLAY THIS: My Righteousness.

I M ready to kneel before our maker.
Yes! So am I brother.
Jesus Christ is my lord and savior. I am ready.
I feel that I am at the ready to face God. As I go through each day and watch my the days of my life peel away like an onion and I reflect, I know God has groomed me and the pain of my past was just Him strengthening me and when I have my weak points He clothes me in His righteousness. Thank you Lord for the armor.
Such a powerful image. God calling me out to stand up like a man and be judged. I feel a bit like Walter, I’m ready, but I still feel like there’s work for me to do. Then I realize that’s more like what I want to do vs what He needs me to do. I need to let His will be done and not let my will get in His way.
I am both not prepared and not ready due to my shortcomings, God I pray you will know my true heart better than I
By God’s grace, I am ready.
Just some food for thought, In Matthew 25 here, The redeemed r referred to as sheep and the unrighteous as goats, young sheep r called lambs and young goats r called kids, I’ve always wondered why the Christian community refer to their children as kids like the world does, won’t we be better if we’re not going to call them children to refer to them as “lambs”
Yes i am , but only in the righteousness of Christ my savior
Not sure I will be ready when that time comes but……….I will stand in his presence with great thankfulness and until then, I will continue to keep the FAITH until my dying day!!!!
When I’m surrounded by the enemy. When my body’s consumed, Jesus will still be my Righteousness and my Holiness. He is my all in all. Nothing will stop me from being his son. He loves me. His blood cleanses me from all unrighteousness. He is Jehovah Jireh. He’s able and willing. I trust Him. Amen.
No, I honestly don’t believe I am. Still have plenty of work to do.
Really there is no work. Just accept His gift of salvation. Know you are a sinner and Jesus took the punishment we all deserve.
Yes I am ready to stand before God. Even though sometimes I feel like I’ve missed the mark, or that I’m not good enough, I know that’s not what it’s about. God has provided a means for me to be able to stand before Him one day.
Thanks for this timely devo again Vince.
