Are You Entitled Or Content?
"I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need." Philippians 4:12
In the material world in which you live, there are comforts you take for granted daily. Yet have you considered that these comforts may not be your best teacher. The Apostle Paul, the author of Philippians, was a man who knew many comforts when he was known once by the name of Saul. Saul was a Roman Citizen and a Jewish Lawyer. He was both educated and wealthy. He was embellished with titles and power. But could this have been his path to selfish entitlement? Yet after his confrontation by Jesus on the road to Damascus, Saul's life and name were dramatically changed. From this moment Paul saw life differently, for it's often from "being brought low" that we unlearn entitlement and discover contentment regardless of "plenty or hunger, abundance or need."
DO THIS: Unlearn entitlement and learn contentment by being thankful.
PRAYER: God, thank you for what you have done and are doing in my life. There are comforts I enjoy and do not deserve. Today you deserve thanks for providing these and may I never forget these always come from you. Protect me from the entitlements of my selfish heart.
