Escalator or Stairs
"Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few." — Matthew 7:13-14
So which do you prefer? The escalator or the stairs? It's a crossroads you'll face. Soon you'll encounter this opportunity looking up, or down, a pathway of two choices — one easy and one hard. And like most of the other 97% of the world, you'll take the escalator, it is after all easier. But in this choice to opt for what was easy, did you just make things harder for yourself down the road? Could this vote for ease be a ticket to status quo, average, and mediocrity resulting in terminal destruction?
Today take the stairs. Carry your luggage up the stairs and watch everyone else take the escalator. It'll change your perspective. On the stairs, there's no line, no crowd, and even a small touch of pride in doing it. And then glance over at all the escalator people as they reason "it's easier." Keep in mind your making one small choice to do something that most won't do. Be among the 3%. Go "narrow." Travel the "hard way." Get some self-discipline and "find the life that few find."
DO THIS: Take the stairs.
PRAYER: God, prompt me when I have this choice this choice today. Give me the courage and discipline to take the stairs and learn
