Even More Affirmations From God

ENGLISH

So the text today builds on the affirmations in yesterday's devotional. Let's recall the situation in this context. Daniel was praying and fasting when he saw a vision of an amazing man. Then the guys with him bail, and the vision ends up having this physiological effect on him. Then this angelic being shows up and comes to him with two affirmations. One is physical. He lifts him up. The second is verbal. He calls him a man greatly loved. And today, as the story continues, we will see two more affirmations. Here's the text in verses 12-14:

Then he said to me, "Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come." — Daniel 10:12-14

This is a fascinating text since we are given a glimpse of some things that occur in the supernatural. But for today, here are two more affirmations for the man of God.

The third affirmation is an acknowledgment of divine awareness. It's that God hears Daniel's words in the heavens. But they are not just heard — God responds. I think we all want this. We want to know that God hears us. But the only way we know that he hears is if he responds. And in this situation, God responds to Daniel's three weeks of prayer. He responds by giving him a vision, a word, an experience, and an angelic being who shows up and communicates the future to him. This is very affirming to me as a follower because, given what I read here, I can have spiritual confidence that if God heard and responded to Daniel, he will listen to and respond to me.

The fourth affirmation is that God is fighting for us. We discover in this text that there is a war going on which was unseen by Daniel. A battle between angelic beings — both good and evil. And each nation seems to have a "prince" fighting for them in this war. Some are fighting on God's behalf against enemy nations and their "princes." But these princes are all functioning underneath the authority of God. But one was ordered to come and explain to Daniel the supernatural occurrences of the latter times. And guys, this is both terrifying and comforting. It's terrifying to think that right now in our country, there is a battle being waged in the heavenliness of which we see the effects in our culture and time. At the same time, it's comforting to know that this battle is in God's hands, and in the end, he will be victorious on our behalf.

So hold on tight to these four affirmations from this section of the text. First, God sees the state you are in. Second, he loves you immensely. Third, he is divinely aware of your every request. And fourth, he is fighting your battles for you even today.

Fellas, God is working. All we have to do is keep the faith.

ASK THIS: Which affirmation do you need today?

DO THIS: Pray and let God do his thing.

PRAY THIS: God, I am weary and need affirmation from you.

PLAY THIS:  Fight My Battles.
