Listen to advice and accept instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future.—Proverbs 19:20
Unbelievable amounts of feedback—have you been in that moment before? Where it seems everyone has a thought, opinion, or idea for you—nonetheless about you. I used to reject it. But I've found that most of the time (with an exclusion of a few people) that people want the best for me. They want me to warn me, improve me, or advance me in ways I haven't before. In the end, they are merely giving me "no-cost consultations" that help me to see I've ignored or haven't seen before. And I have a choice; I can view it through the lens of irritation or I can view it through the lens of God's sovereignty and receive it exactly as I should—God's wisdom for me! So today, instead of being irritated by those nagging voices and irritating people, listen carefully to their shreds of "advice and accept God instruction, that you may gain wisdom in the future." You might discover that even your enemies give you excellent advice when you "listen" with care.
DO THIS: Listen carefully today, for advice and wisdom.
PRAYER: God, I trust you enough to listen, even when it's delivered poorly. For you might be saying something I need to hear. Soften my heart and help me gain your wisdom.
