“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. Matthew 12:33-35

Every man is a vessel. It should not be surprising to you that when you tip your coffee mug over, coffee spills out. Why? Because you put coffee in it, coffee will spill out. Matthew reminds the reader that the heart of a man is a vessel. What comes out of his mouth is a reflection of what is in his heart. For that reason, it is imperative to pay attention to what is placed within.

You can't avoid the disruptions of life, but you can ensure your reaction will be God-honoring. It is out of the overflow of your heart that you will always respond. Becoming God's man means being prepared to spill your life out in front of others. These are some of the most teachable moments because reactions are emotional and powerful. Take time to fill up your heart with what you want to come out of your mouth.
