Get Aligned | The Best Is Yet To Come | John 16:29-32
His disciples said, “Ah, now you are speaking plainly and not using figurative speech! Now we know that you know all things and do not need anyone to question you; this is why we believe that you came from God.” Jesus answered them, “Do you now believe? Behold, the hour is coming, indeed it has come, when you will be scattered, each to his own home, and will leave me alone. — John 16:29-32
This makes it clear that you cannot pull one over on Jesus. He knows how to evaluate our human believing. And by comparing these statements by the disciples with their future actions, we can see two things. First, they did not have full knowledge and understanding of all things as they proclaim they do. Second, even though they could make sound theological affirmations, they still needed to fully align their lives with these affirmations.
I believe it is essential for us to seriously evaluate our human believing because we cannot and will not pull one over on Jesus — ever. So here are two questions taken from this text that might be good for you to use for self-evaluation today:
- Do you know what you proclaim you know, or are you just saying you do?
- Do you act according to what you proclaim to believe?
If not, make adjustments by doing this. First, read Scripture and test what you know against God's truth. Second, act on what the scripture says to do. When you do these things, you will continually deepen your believing and pass the test when the time and trials come.
ASK THIS:
- How can you ensure that your professed beliefs are grounded in a deep understanding of God's truth rather than being mere assertions?
- In what areas of your life do you find a disconnect between your proclaimed beliefs and your actions? How can you take deliberate steps to align your actions with your faith?
DO THIS: Reflect on the questions and get aligned.
PRAY THIS: Dear God, guide me to a genuine understanding of Your truth, so my beliefs may be rooted in Your wisdom and not just empty words. Help me align my actions with my faith, that I may reflect Your transformative power in every aspect of my life.

Dear Lord I want to go deeper in my relationship with You. And I thank You for speaking to me and others through Your servant Vince Miller to challenge me to go deeper. Please bless each person who reads or hears these words today to drive each one of us to immerse ourselves in Your Word and draw ever closer to you today and every day from now to the day You call each of us to our home with You in Heaven. This I pray in Jesus Name!! “Cling to Him, forsake Him not; thus will your future be great…Those who fear the Lord prepare their hearts and humble themselves before Him. Let us fall into the hands of the Lord, and not into the hands of men, for equal to His majesty is the mercy that He shows.” Sirach 2:3, 17-18

Praying for you!
Lord, please bless Woody and his wife, keep them strong, and help them realize we are all broken and need Jesus. Lord, keep them in the palm of Your hand and lead them to You.
Woody: Praying for God to bring your marriage back and whole. I know broken. My marriage was broken apart due to both our sin. Separated but I had made a vow and pursued her with remorse, kindness and love that I still had for her. In time we came together and rebuilt through the Lord what was broken. Only God could mend. It’s hard, but God is good. He is with you, trust him. Duane
