Get Out Of The Way Of Sin

Remember, an angelic being is explaining to Daniel numerous future events. Next, he tells him this:

Then shall arise in his place one who shall send an exactor of tribute for the glory of the kingdom. But within a few days he shall be broken, neither in anger nor in battle. — Daniel 11:20

So the successor mentioned here who replaced Antiochus III was his son Seleucus IV. He sent an "exactor" or "tax collector" named Heliodorus to collect taxes from the country for the money demanded by the Romans as part of a treaty. Seleucus IV reigned only "a few years" and was not killed in "battle" but poisoned by Heliodorus, who wanted the throne for himself.

This little verse reminds me that corrupt men build a culture of complicit corruption that eventually destroys them. Do you know what this means? This means you don't always need to be the guy fighting sin and corruption in the world. Sometimes all you need to do is just get out of its way and let it destroy itself.

ASK THIS: What corruption do you need to remove yourself from today?

DO THIS: Get out of its way and let the culture around it destroy it.

PRAY THIS: God, please let sin and corruption determine their demise.

PLAY THIS: Battle Belongs.

I get so confused lately when I watch Jack Hibbs sermons and listen to Charlie Kirk podcast. They preach that we should stand up and do something to help save our country. Separation of Church and state is NOT what most people think, and that Churches that cower away are weak. I attend a Church that isn’t topical, only the word of God, chapter by chapter. Obviously through thousands of years, every King has some kind of corruption and their own way of “stealing their throne”. Although nothing takes God by surprise, what are we as followers supposed to do? Pray that His will is done and watch our destruction? Or stop complaining in our Christian circles and do something? I seem to currently enjoy my Church of Bible exposition and humility, and the topical as my Biblical entertainment but it gets frustrating….

So timely as the Biden administration touts all that it has done for us while the stock market tanks and inflation is higher than ever. Kinda like the Emperor and his clothing story! When I see this and I find myself getting angry I try and remember that the Lord has all of this under control and NOTHING happens outside of his control. So, as Vince’s message said this morning it’s probably best to just get out of the way of this crumbling mess.

When you blame it all on Biden I was wondering if Donald could do any better. We have to remember like you said later on God is in control so why do we badmouth what God has done.

      • Eric says:

Cliff you bring up a good point about Trump. Could he do better? Personally I’m not a fan of Trump the person but I do believe his “policies” are much better for America than what the current administration is doing. This should be self evident. However, thankfully the good Lord has his reasons for our current situation. It might be that like Israel we are digressing into such moral decay that it is now time to pay for our disobedience as a nation. Regardless thank you for your response.

        • Cliff says:

I like the last half of your paragraph. I agree with you 100% this country has to pay for the sin that we have been involved in for so long, I think time has come do between the fires and the floods, hurricanes all the disasters, I believe it’s quite obvious. Thank you for sharing with me.

    • Dennis says:

      Eric,
I too find myself getting angry over what is going on in our nation, but then I see all of the in fighting within the the current administration and find that they are self destructing. I just keep praying that God keep intervening and protecting us. It seems to be working. We pray and then we see small gains, such as the over turning of Roe v Wade, the wins in the primary mid terms etc. Let me encourage you to keep on praying and seeking God.

This one made me smile as most of my troubles in life have been self-inflicted. May God save us from ourselves!
