Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.—James 3:13
According to James, a man's wisdom is not proven by his intellectual capacity. His wisdom is confirmed by what he does. The Bible is clear that wise men do things differently. And James had a front-row seat to the life of the wisest man to ever live—Jesus, his half-brother. The Master of Wisdom was on full display right before James' eyes from birth to death. And what did James see, hear, experience, and understand about wisdom? A wise man is tested by action, from his first breath to his last.
But it's not just action alone that proves wisdom. It's "humble" action. It's the character of our action that proves our wisdom. This means that as we act, upon the knowledge we are given by God, that we "think less of ourselves" as we do it. Now there is a wise man. Wisdom = action + humility.
DO THIS: Be wise and act with humility.
PRAYER: God, may every action be humble so that the world may see your wisdom through me.
