Give Credit
"Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 6:1
When Jesus warns us to "beware," he implies you need to pay attention. And what are you called to pay attention to? "Practicing your righteousness," which is done solely to put on a show for others. This is a warning about giving to much attention and publicity to self. And this is a good warning because you are not called to be righteousness to be noticed, but rather for an audience of one - the "Father who is in heaven" and his "heavenly rewards." As you journey through this day, be careful about drawing too much attention to yourself and thus miss the opportunity to give recognition to God the giver of all good things.
DO THIS: Give credit to God for all good things.
PRAYER: God, I know at times I a can be a glory stealer. Help me today to give glory to you and deflect attention from myself.
