Go Against The Flow

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. Ephesians 6:10-11

Do you ever feel like you are swimming upstream and against the flow? Some days we feel that way. It feels as if the current is pushing against you and we grow weary from the currents force and the obstacles placed before us. If you have ever stood in a stream fly fishing, you will watch a trout nestle itself behind the current of a large rock as it waits patiently for its daily provision to be exposed. A smart trout understands they need moments while they make their way upstream as the look for the next meal.

In the world you live, you will always be swimming upstream. The current of life will at times pull you back and down. Sometimes your current will include the ungodly counsel of friends, business partners, or even your own family. In other cases, it may be a stream of poor decisions you have made that lead to your demise. Either way, you are called to "be strong in the Lord and in the strength of this might." The writer directs you to anchor yourself in the rock when the currents force is strong, or maybe you need to nestle yourself behind the rock and let God be your strength for today.

DO THIS TODAY: Let God be your rock and strength.

PRAYER: God, I feel weary, today I need you to be my strength. Show me how strong you are and help me to trust not in myself but in you.
