Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My victory and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. Common people are as worthless as a puff of wind, and the powerful are not what they appear to be. If you weigh them on the scales, together they are lighter than a breath of air. Don’t make your living by extortion or put your hope in stealing. And if your wealth increases, don’t make it the center of your life. Psalm 62:5-10

David provides a glimpse into how a man ought to think about God.

A.W. Tozer once said that ““What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” This Psalm reveals to us what a man after God’s own heart thinks about his Lord. God is a person in whom we can confidently place our hope. He is the one where we find a secure location to seek refuge. What should our response to God be?

David articulates a few actions of the man who thinks these thoughts of God. That man waits quietly before God. That man pours out his heart to God, taking refuge in him. And that man makes God the center of his life even in the face of prosperity. Pursue God today by emulating David in both thought and action in the presence of God.
