God's Certain Plan In Our Uncertainty

When he had gone out, Jesus said, “Now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself, and glorify him at once. — John 13:31-32

On our journey, we often encounter moments that leave us perplexed and uncertain, much like the disciples did when Jesus spoke these words. The truth contained within this statement may not have been immediately clear to the disciples, but as John later reveals in his writing, they would eventually come to understand the significance of this statement and moment.

However, despite their confusion, Jesus was not perplexed. He possessed a deep understanding of the weight and importance of this moment. It was a standstill moment—a moment in time that our timeless God had meticulously planned since before the beginning of time. This was the time for the mutual glorification of God through Jesus, a divine plan that had been long-awaited. It was the sacrificial death of Jesus that would bring reconciliation between creation and the Creator.

While the disciples were unaware of the profound significance of this moment, Jesus paused as Judas walked out of the room. In that pause, Jesus recognized that the moment of glory had arrived. He understood that God's perfect timing was at work, orchestrating a moment that would forever change the course of history.

This passage teaches us an important lesson about the nature of God's timing. In our lives, we will encounter confusion, uncertainty, and moments that leave us perplexed. Yet, even in the midst of our bewilderment, God remains steadfast, unwavering, and certain. He is never confused. This is because He orchestrates divine moments that align with His perfect plan.

Though we may not always perceive these moments in real time, God sees them as they unfold. He knows when they happen, and He recognizes their significance. Just as Jesus paused in recognition of the moment's glory, so too does God invite us to pause and perceive His hand at work in our lives.

In our spiritual journey, it is crucial to cultivate a spirit of attentiveness and awareness. As we remain watchful, we will begin to see the divine moments God gives us. Now, most of the time, we may only recognize these moments in hindsight, but this should not imply that God's perfect timing is not at play. His divine plan unfolds with precision, bringing about His glory and our ultimate transformation.

Today, let us embrace the truth that God's timing is flawless. Though confusion may surround us, let us declare our trust in His sovereign plan. Let us speak to our unsettled souls and find encouragement in this declaration of Jesus. Stand still and recognize that even when we can't see it, God is working to bring about His glory through us.

ASK THIS:

  1. As you reflect on the concept of divine moments and God's perfect timing, what are some instances in your life where you have experienced confusion or uncertainty? How can you trust in God's sovereignty and embrace those moments as opportunities for His divine work?
  2. Consider the moments in your journey of faith that seemed perplexing or unclear at the time. Looking back, can you identify any instances where God's perfect timing was at play, even if you didn't realize it in the moment? How does recognizing these divine pauses strengthen your trust in God's plan and encourage you to remain attentive to His work in your life?

DO THIS: Trust God's timing even when you don't understand.

PRAY THIS: Heavenly Father, in the midst of confusion and uncertainty, I place my trust in You. Help me surrender my worries and anxieties, knowing that Your perfect timing and divine plan are at work in my life.

PLAY THIS: Trust In You.
