Do You Want God To Show Up And Give You An Answer?

ENGLISH

Have you ever experienced a moment where you are so overwhelmed, confused, and desperate that you want God to show up and tell you what the future holds and what he wants you to do? That's precisely what happens in Daniel today. Daniel 9:20-23 reads:

While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea before the Lord my God for the holy hill of my God, while I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, came to me in swift flight at the time of the evening sacrifice. He made me understand, speaking with me and saying, "O Daniel, I have now come out to give you insight and understanding. At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision. — Daniel 9:20-23

I think we have all been in a place of desperation. So desperate, we want God to show up and give us an answer. This is where Daniel is. As he writes this chapter, he is going through a significant transition in the empire. He knows his world is about to be undone. It probably feels like a substantial transition in the workplace where you get a new CEO at the helm, and he will lay off a considerable percentage of the workforce. But in Daniel's day, they didn't fire people — they cut their heads off. So while all this is stirring in his heart, he searches for hope in God's Word and discovers that national sin was the issue that led to this moment in time. He prays an incredible prayer of repentance, turning to God for salvation, and Gabriel shows up at the close of his prayer.

Wouldn't you like this to happen to you? To get direct access to God by an agent at his disposal. I bet someone out there listening today wants just that. And guess what? You can have it.

As a follower of Christ, we are given the Holy Spirit. This Spirit lives in you and intercedes for you. Most of the time, we don't know he's around because we don't spend time doing things that increase our awareness of him. Daniel is doing things in this text that increase his awareness of the divine. He is reading God's Word. He's confessing sin. He's fasting. He's praying. And while he is doing these spiritual things, God sends Gabriel to give him spiritual answers and to tell him the one thing he needs to know — that he is greatly loved by God.

Fellas, if you want spiritual answers, maybe it's time to do spiritual things that increase your sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Because he is listening and speaking, and men who know him tend to hear more from God.

ASK THIS: How are you going to increase your spiritual sensitivity?

DO THIS: Tune into the Spirit.

PRAY THIS: God, I want to hear from your Spirit.

PLAY THIS: Holy Spirit, You Are Welcome Here.

The word being aware spoke to me this morning . Taking time to read read and listen are all so important

  2. Dennis says:

Thank you Vince. This is just what I needed this morning. I think at times we all want to we are loved. I wake up many mornings wondering “is this all there is to my life?” Those of us in ministry constantly are pouring out into the lives we minister to, but often I feel empty and often wonder when do I get filled? But God. His grace is sufficient for me. Because even in my marriage, I often feel alone. Love ya Brother.

  3. Chris says:

I have several things heavy on my heart and I don’t feel any direction fron God. I confess I have been drinking every night to cope yet on my knees every morning in prayer.

    • Dennis James says:

      Chris,
My Brother, I can tell you from experience , you won’t find your answers in the bottom of a bottle! The reason you are not feeling any direction from God is that you are separating yourself from Him by consuming those spirits. Brother, you probably already know this but you need to quit the sauce. I was where you are once in my life, saved but yet separated from God because of my choice to choose alcohol over the Holy Spirit and that my friend almost cost me my life at my own hand. BUT GOD! I recently found a program that I am launching here at our church, Recovery Alive. This is a program that you can even do online. Check it out Brother, RecoveryAlive.com . Also if you ever need or want to talk reach out to me. Vince can link you up to me. But do yourself a favor, get into a program, you cannot do this alone. I will be praying for you.

    • Cory D says:

Hey Chris I been there brother. Alcohol grip is confusing, frustrating and indescribable to those around us. But there is hope through the One. Find a faith based recovery group and pray for the strength to go to it. Eventually you will be blessed if stay with them.

  4. Gary says:

    John 6
    King James Version

28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

Can it really be this simple?

    • Dennis James says:

The answer to your question is, YES! We are the ones who make it hard by being disobedient and trying to serve two masters. Always remember these two words… BUT GOD

  5. Roger says:

I believe He showed up the other night to give me an answer for the next season of my life. I have written it down and will see if it is the answer to confirm as He and I walk it out. I will continue to pray, seek, and ask. God’s Holy Spirit is so amazing. We do have access. I/We will get to the other side in the storms of life if we ‘press’ into Him. Praise God!

“Men who KNOW him, tend to hear more from Him!” Agree Pastor Vince!
Thank you my friend and co-laborer!

“And this is eternal life, that they may KNOW You, the ONLY TRUE God, and Jesus Christ who You have sent.”
    Jesus in John 17:3

To KNOW Him, we MUST spend time with Him. Men, MAKE time for Him your priority ! There is no greater endeavor! To become men OF The Word, we MUST be IN The Word!
