God Sprints
"And he arose and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion, and ran and embraced him and kissed him." —Luke 15:20
I think this idea is almost absurd—God running? Not waiting. Not walking. Not even jogging. He runs, sprints, and bolts toward his belligerent son. This imagery of a father running is entirely counter-cultural. It's in direct opposition to works-based religion. And yet if you imagine you are the son, it's the most beautiful image ever. It's an image of grace, love, forgiveness, and mercy. It's recovery. It's reinstatement. It's restoration. It's the love you want from your dad. Today remember your Heavenly Father runs to you. Regardless of your past, your mistakes, your current issues, and your failings—God sprints for you.
DO THIS: Accept God's love.
PRAYER: God, I receive your love today, regardless of what my mind or flesh says about me.
