“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:8-11

How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you. Psalm 139:17-18

I spent the day at the beach today and was reminded of the sheer vastness of God. The amount of sand I witnesses today would be impossible to count, and I was on only one of many beaches that border the miles of sea around the world. The psalmist would have seen his fair share of sand, and yet God's thoughts outnumber the sand! 

As a man and a leader, I think a lot. There are times that I think I have considered every angle of a situation. In those moments, confidence can quickly sink in. Days like today remind me of two things: God's thoughts are different than mine, and He has indeed thought of everything. Every man should defer to God in his thinking because His thoughts are supreme. Do think thoroughly about everything, but only be confident in the One who has thought about everything.
