For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God.—1 Peter 2:20
You can earn two rewards here. Both rewards are found through suffering. One you earn by doing wrong. The other you earn for doing right. Earned suffering for doing wrong is called punishment. But earned suffering for doing right has a credit—grace. God looks upon this with grace because he "sees" your suffering in light of the righteous suffering of his Son.
ASK THIS: Are you tired of suffering for doing wrong?
DO THIS: Suffer for doing right. It comes with grace.
PRAY THIS: God, may my suffering today be right and righteous. May I suffer like a real man, like your Son.
