All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:27-29
You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3
There are very few times in the year that can compare to the holidays. The amount of activity is well beyond normal, and it is easy to feel rushed between family gatherings, work parties, buying and returning gifts, and other pressures that come with the season. It is a supposed time of “Peace on Earth” that leaves most men feeling anything but peaceful. How do we remedy this?
More vacation time is not the answer. A vacation of choice or getting away from the chaos of family gatherings may bring a reprieve, but an exchange of burdens is the only solution. Jesus speaks to this here in Matthew 11, offering rest not as a supplement, but as an exchange. What man would benefit from this? Any man who is feeling the pressures of life. A complete swap of one burden for another. We never go without a burden, but we can take on one that does not wear a man out.
DO THIS TODAY: Fix your mind on Christ.
