Great Grace

For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.—Romans 6:14

That's pretty explicit. "No dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace."

The Christian man is governed under a new system—a law of grace. And I think, we think, this is unbelievable because we are used to the old law and its way. We are accustomed to doing something wrong and then being punished for it. Thus we rarely have human experiences with grace. And even when we do, it's a mere shadow of God's grace. This is because we extend grace out of our awareness of our sins. But God extends grace from his sinlessness to people who do not deserve it. And that's what makes it unbelievable.

But just because it appears to be unbelievable, this does not make it unbelievable. Rather it demonstrates our unbelief and need for belief. What we need to do is believe. Believe in the truth of God's unbelievable grace. We need to receive it and accept it. Your unbelief is simply your unbelief, and it never changes the extravagant fact that "sin will have no dominion over you."

Take that, Satan.

ASK THIS: What sin results in you denying God's extravagant grace?

DO THIS: Accept his unbelievable grace in this area.

PRAY THIS: God, give me further grace to resist this sin the next time it exposes itself through temptation in my life.
