He Provides It All
Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand. — 1 Chronicles 29:13-14
At this moment in history, King David is transitioning the nation of Israel to his son Solomon. Solomon is the leader that God designated for building the Great Temple — not David because he was a man of war. But notice David's posture. While he was unworthy to build the Temple, he was worthy to provide resources for the building of the Temple. This contributed to his son's success and accomplished something glorious for God after his time.
We should all dare to live this way. To not just live out our days striving for our success but also being concerned about the success of others. To not just live a legacy but leave a legacy. And to do this, we have to see life the way God sees it. He looks beyond the finite amount of time between our birth and death and gives us things to steward — people, positions, possessions, and power. And he is writing a story that is greater than our story. And we play a small role in this greater story. Sometimes we might play a big role. But other times we might play a small role. Either way, it's God who provides the resources to do both. He gives, we steward, and his story will prevail.
So today, are you ready to play a role in a bigger story? If so, get ready. God may provide you with something to steward. But the question is this — will you steward his provision his way?
ASK THIS: Are you ready to be a steward of God's provision?
DO THIS: What will you steward today in a way that will honor God. (Share it in the comments below.)
PRAY THIS: God, may I be faithful to steward your provision in small ways so that I may be given more to steward for your glory, not my own.
PLAY THIS: Heart Like Heaven.
