Human Humble & Hard
And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.—Philippians 2:8
We often prefer the path of least resistance over the path of greatest challenge. For proof, pay attention to how you execute your day. Notice how you avoid problem people or put off addressing issues until they must be addressed. We all do this to some degree—even me. But this is not always the best choice. Sometimes we need to do the hard thing.
The verse above is in the middle of one of the great paragraphs in the New Testament. In context, the writer is talking about how Jesus lived. Note his form (human), his character (humble), and his obedience (the hard path). Jesus chooses a mission of death (human, humble, and hard) in it's most unpleasant form—crucifixion. In this, Jesus demonstrates that his man must do hard things.
As God's man do something human, humble, and hard today.
- Seek forgiveness.
- Share your faith.
- Stand up for injustice.
But don't sit on the bench, get in the game.
DO THIS: Something hard.
PRAY THIS: God, allow me to do something hard today.
