Today as the weather starts to change from fall to winter, it strikes me that we are not surprised by the coming of winter. We might not be happy about it, but we are not surprised by it. We aren’t like, what? Where did this come from? Why is the temperature dropping and what was once rain, is now becoming snow? Why? Why? Why…. No we don’t do that, because we know that winter is coming, whether we like it or not.

Well, life is like that too. Whether we want change to come or not, it’s coming. Whether we want a bad set of circumstances to come or not, it’s coming. Whether we want it or not, our boss might tell us that we are no longer needed at work. Whether we want it or not, our son or daughter could tell us they are dropping out of school. Whether we want the doctor share the prognosis or not about the previously undiscovered medical condition that will impact our day-to-day lives (and might even end it) it may come. Life will charge at you and occasionally you will feel it….

But, just as fall leads to winter which in turn, leads to spring, life events, while they may seem like they will never end and never get better, will pass and it will change. We just need to hang on and work through it and don’t give up. This is what faith does for me. I know that I have a Father in heaven who loves me more than anything else in this whole world and he will take care of me (but I might need to go through some winters in my life).

15 But in your hearts revere Christ as LORD. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect. – 1 Peter 3:15
