Independent Choices
"Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14
By nature, you tend to want to make choices in a vacuum. Without "an abundance of counselors," you discover you just end up falling on your face. While you may explain it away as a failed strategy, could it be that the appeal of self-assurance, self-certainty, and self-preservation brought out impatient independence that precipitated a quick decision to do what you wanted to do in the first place? Could it be that instead of guidance you trusted "your gut" which ironically was a "gutless" choice? Man of God, heed the advice of God's Word and wise men - ignore your gut and get guidance and quit all the needless falling.
DO THIS: Get guidance right now.
PRAYER: God, I lean on my wisdom way too much. God, I confess my sin, and in the act of repentance today I will choose to turn to your Word and wise men for the counsel I need.
