Irrational Love – What We Learn From Sarah Lee
"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” 1 John 4:18
This week a well-known media outlet featured a woman named Sarah Lee, an entrepreneur who lives in New York who did something irrational - or maybe perfectly rational. On the way to church this August she stopped to talk with a homeless couple, heard their story, and decided to invite them to church with her. Leaving church, she felt called to extend another invitation; she invited them back to her apartment for a shower and in a bold move asked them to stay. Yep to stay - in her small apartment with her. But that's not all Sarah over the coming month paid for activating their mobile phone, purchased clothes for them, and even arranged for travel so they could attend a family members funeral. And it was this one verse that gave her the courage to do it all. Which led to this couple to finding greater eternal hope - they each made decisions to begin a relationship with Christ and were baptized at Life Center Church in New York City. Thanks, Sarah Lee for inspiring us all to live in the splendor of irrational love.
DO THIS: Extend irrational love.
PRAYER: God, I have more than I need, so teach me to be less selfish. Help me to extend love to others that may need it,
