It Makes Men Furious
For jealousy makes a man furious,
and he will not spare when he takes revenge.—Proverbs 6:34
Do you want to see a man furious? Serve him up a little bit of cold-brewed jealousy in a frosty mug. Jealousy is an emotional state that signals a perceived threat to relationships, status, and advancement for men. Overconsumption of jealousy not only makes a man furious but unmoderated evolves into vengeance. To get what someone else has, we will eventually feel compelled to take it by force. And this only happens when we fail to take a moment to understand and moderate our jealousy. So today, when you feel jealous, treat it as a nudge from God and address your real need. Jealousy is merely a need for relationship, status, or advancement, so why not instead of taking it from someone, ask God for the desires of your heart?
DO THIS: Ask God for the relationship, status, and advancement you want. Talk to him about the desires of your heart.
JOURNAL THIS: At times, I feel jealous when...
PRAY THIS: God, forgive my jealous and even vengeful heart. May I always address this before I hurt others and end up embarrassing myself.
