It's Still A Movement

Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. — Acts 2:37-38

This is the beginning of a massive movement that extends even into our time. It started with one man's courage. A man that spoke a challenging message. A message of deep conviction. And this conviction resulted in a simple question. And as a result, people responded to a clear call of action.

You know, I have often wondered why we don't see more of this in the church today. Why we don't hear of stories like this all the time.

  • Could it be we lack men of courage?
  • Could it be our messages lack biblical conviction?
  • Could it be we lack hearing clear calls to action?

Regardless, I know this. We have:

  • The same gospel they had.
  • The same power they had.
  • The same salvation they had.

Sometimes all we lack are repentant hearts. Hearts willing to change and be changed. Hearts that ask with desperation, "What do I need to do?"

Instead of being so concerned about what we lack in the modern church, maybe we should start acting like this church. Today let's repent. Repent to God by turning from sin or a specific sin. Turn forever and live obedient to the same God who still saves. And let's bring the message and movement to the next generation.

If you are ready to repent. Just write the word repent below, and my team and I will pray for you.

ASK THIS: Are you ready to repent?

DO THIS: If so, write the word repent below. If you are brave, share what you might need prayer for, and I will pray for you. (Share this in the comments below.)

PRAY THIS: God, I need to repent. Receive this as my confession. You are Lord, and I am not. I turn from my sin. Cleanse me from all unrighteous. May your Spirit strengthen me to live obedient to your will.

PLAY THIS: My God Is Still The Same.

Repent! I have been being worn down by repetitive sin, specifically lust. I am so tired of hurting gods heart, I don’t wanna do it anymore! Anyone who sees this please pray for me, I believe god can heal and redeem me and allow me to live in obedience, I just feel like a total dirtbag and like I’m constantly failing.

Amen, we need more powerful devotions like this. A godly man I knew back awhile ago said” all that’s necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men/ godly men do nothing “

Going back to old ways of thinking. Having pity parties and hardening of the heart. Taking advantage of God’s mercy and forgiveness.

REPENT. I’ve recently gone through the big “D”, I’ve been complacent, feel like giving up, most days having no motivation. During all of this, I’ve let my health slip and have not intentionally tried to take care of this temple.

I ask for prayer for GOD’S continued blessings and favor as I begin my Ministry in a new but familiar location, Brinkley Heights Christian Academy. I pray for GOD’S resources as I begin my fundraiser for the year and for GOD’S strength and wisdom as I share the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with my personal testimony. I pray for forgiveness of my sins, known and unknown, that I grow closer to the Cross daily!

I lost my temper the other day, and seem to be losing it on a regular basis, with my kids that don’t seem to want to listen pretty much every day this summer, with no sign of them being ready to listen and help out around the house. God, please continue to remind me that my children, much like Your CHOSEN people, will push and rebel against authority until they come to a mature understanding of selflessness, in place of selfish desires. Amen.

  13. Taylor says:

Lord I repent from my addiction to porn and lust! Wash my eyes and my heart clean lord so I can see the true beauty of my wife and be the Christian husband I want to be! Give me the courage to stand up and tell people about my journey, past and sins and allow them to find you through my messages of freedom and forgiveness lord! Thank you for offering your love, mercy and forgiveness over my life lord and saving me from a dark life!

  14. Jon Atwood says:

Repent… I have to ask God for forgiveness for turning to alcohol in my times of depression, anxiety, sadness, and suffering. I am going to AA, and have a sponsor now. I need prayers for strength and the courage to take action to fight this disease, and to lean on God rather than my own understanding.

  15. Alexander Riddle says:

I need redemption from anger, church hurts, capacity to lie, and overall succumbing to life’s challenges
