It's Time To Retaliate

“You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”—Matthew 5:38-39

You know you want to get em' back sometimes. Like a beast within, a demon roars from inside you. Vengeance is his name, and retaliation is his game. His war cry is "eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth," but you know he never stops there. The limits of his retaliation know no boundaries. If he could take two "eyes" or two "teeth" he would and will. But this is not the way for the Christian man. You are called to absorb the blow, and often it's not physical, but rather it's emotional, spiritual, and intellectual. But be cautious! While you are commanded to "not resist the one who is evil," you are called to resist the evil within. If you have the desire to retaliate, retaliate against the evil within. "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."—James 4:7

DO THIS: Retaliate against the sin in you.

PRAYER: God, give me the power to stop fighting against others and wage war against the enemy within.
