By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers.—1 John 3:16
The only way men could ever know love is that love was revealed to us. The reason being is that we don’t know how to love, but we know sin, and we know it well. And to sin is to hate—hate others and hate self. But how did we learn to love? And maybe more importantly, who did we learn it from? Well, he, Jesus Christ, laid his life down for us. This is love—to die for men who don’t know love, don’t deserve love, and don’t act with love. But because of him, we can love, and how do we demonstrate it? We, too, do as he did—lay down our lives for the brothers. Today do this lay down a portion of your time and effort and call a brother and encourage him during this time and then say the words he needs to hear, “I love ya, man!”
DO THIS: Give up some time and energy and call a brother today.
PRAY THIS: God, I know you love me. You have demonstrated it time and time again. Prompt me to call a brother today and love him in the way you have loved me.
