Jealousy
"You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions." James 4:2-3
"Desire and passion" that is out of line with God's will always lead to murderous results. Feel the progression of wrong desires - "fights, quarrels, hatred, and murder" are always the sequence. While you don't always consider the future of your "jealousy, envy, and coveting" this is precisely where they lead. They will injure others in an effort to improve yourself. So rather than wasting your time pursuing your desires why not ask God for what it is that you do not have that makes you jealous? God is generous and wants you to ask. So why wait another moment? And when you come to ask, let God address your corrupt desires?
DO THIS: Ask God to address your desires and align them with His.
PRAYER: God, I envy what my brother has. Forgive the wild desires of my heart that want what you have given him. I pray that you would give him the very best and help me to understand and know what you have for me. God bless my brother and give me the desires of your heart.
