Jesus's Identity Resolves Ours
So they said to him, “Who are you?” Jesus said to them, “Just what I have been telling you from the beginning. I have much to say about you and much to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I declare to the world what I have heard from him.” They did not understand that he had been speaking to them about the Father. So Jesus said to them, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me. And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.” As he was saying these things, many believed in him. — John 8:25-30
So the challenge that Jesus presented in the previous text is producing a response in this one. And this is good. But we see the audience come back to the same question that has come up several times over numerous days: Who is this guy?
This is an important question. If not the most important question that anyone will ever ask. It's one about Jesus's identity. And because they are mesmerized by what he is doing, mainly his miracles, challenges, wisdom, and boldness, they are drawn to resolve the unresolved matter of his identity.
And this is the most important question a person will ever ask. It's not, "Who am I?" It's, "Who is Jesus?"
This question is the most important one because Jesus's identity resolves ours. He is the means for resolving the identity we lost due to our sin. We destroyed ours. He is the one who redeems it. He is the man who remakes all mankind. And belief in Him is the means to becoming the men we were designed to be. This means his identity matters.
Some people got this, and some didn't. And that's because some would need to see all this in light of the Cross. The Cross, in all its cruelty, would reveal two things to these people—the truth about their sinfulness and the truth about Jesus's identity.
So if you are looking for your identity today, don't look for yours. Look for his. Because in finding his, you will find yours.
ASK THIS: Do you know Jesus?
DO THIS: Seek his identity, and you will find yours.
PRAY THIS: God, I have questioned you and sought my way. Today reveal yourself to me. Remake me by the blood of Jesus.
PLAY THIS: Thank You, Jesus, for the Blood.

Read through the Bible daily with Vince Miller.
Jesus is the Savior of the World! Fully God, fully man, and we are all made in his image! We are made male and female.
We live in a world where people are confused about their identity; spritual and physical. We have a choice, identify with Jesus Christ or identify with the world. I chose Jesus Christ!
Thank you!
So many things that happened this week can be summarized by this. Identity, purpose, meaning all can be found in Jesus, not self.
Thank you Vince, I truly enjoy and need your teaching.
There is nothing better than loving Jesus Christ, and following hard after Him
