Just A Small Deviation
For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.—James 2:10
Just when you thought perfection was in reach, James writes this. It's a law about the Law, and the law is this—fail once and you're guilty of it all. That's the fatal blow of the law of sin. Done once, you become a transgressor of the whole thing. But this leads to all kinds of questions. Like why do I try so hard to be righteous and avoid failure? Or why bother to be righteous when one sin corrupts my whole nature? And why do I still feel guilty after another sinful failure? Well, there's an answer. And the answer is Jesus and his sacrifice for the sin of all humanity. His sacrificial death saved, and in Him do we trust.
Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.—Romans 5:18
