You'll Always Know Just Enough

So let's catch up here. Daniel is confused about the vision he sees, so in the dream, he consults a person who is standing in the courtroom. I want you to imagine that Daniel walks over to some approachable guy and whispers hesitantly to him about his confusion on the matter. Then this guy leans over, raises his hand and points at the four beasts, and says this:

"These four great beasts are four kings who shall arise out of the earth. But the saints of the Most High shall receive the kingdom and possess the kingdom forever, forever and ever." — Daniel 7:17-18

So basically, this man gives Daniel a Cliffs Note version. It's just enough to be able to interpret everything going on.

And this is how things work for us in our relationship with God. God gives us just enough. He gives us just enough to know him. He gives us just enough to understand. He gives us just enough to know that he wins in the end and that we'll possess the kingdom. But he never gives us so much that it takes faith off the table. And here is why he does things this way. He knows we cannot tolerate knowing about all things. Our human minds were not made to handle the little he showed Daniel here. But we know this — we win!

So if today you're struggling to see your way through a challenge or issue. If you struggle to make sense of a wayward child, broken marriage, or career catastrophe, do me a favor. Or do yourself a favor. Trust God through it. Seek him. Ask him in prayer for clarity. And remember, all this will come to an end. And when it does — we win.

ASK THIS: What are you struggling to understand today?

DO THIS: Share it below and let's pray for each other.

PRAY THIS: God, show me the way through my present challenge.

PLAY THIS: The Struggle.

I’m struggling still with my old partner sabatoging my show, my marriage, my wayward child and my teaching career.

  2. Tom F. Sr. says:

    After reading all the comments,
I was overwhelmed at the challenges men and their families are facing, but quickly reminded of the unchanging power of THE Word of God. Gentlemen, make time to read and meditate on The Holy Scriptures, knowing that as you continue in it, believing what you are reading, then you have become Jesus’ disciples indeed. Here you will come to know THE Truth, and It WILL set you free!
    John 8:31-32

Regardless of your circumstances and situations, you are more than conquerors in Christ, who loves you and gave Himself for you! 🙌💪👆

And to the degree that I am able, I will prayerfully lift up your arms in humble service, as you engage the enemy of our souls on the front lines. It is a privilege to know you and to bring you, your family and your ministry before the Lord of Hosts! Rest well tonight!🙏

  6. Ace Acevedo says:

Thank you Vince for everything you are doing for helping men like myself and the many others I am reading about with our walk with Christ.

I enjoy listening to your videos every morning on my way to work. It helps keep me grounded and a constant reminder to lean into my God for direction, protection and correction.

Your videos have been exactly what I’ve been looking for ever since my mens group fell apart.

God bless you, and I thank God for these men here, pouring out their hearts to other men and being encouraged by warrior men!

  7. Dennis says:

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial. for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life. which God has promised to those who love Him.

Proof that we win, but we must stand firm in the faith. I am learning to rejoice during trials. This will sound strange to some, but I actually count the trials and enemy attacks as an honor. Because then I know I am in God’s will. Go from victim to victor! Without struggle, there can be no progress.

  16. Eddie Ackerman says:

powerful song, reminds me of a secular song that has the same kind of undertone, a country song that I don’t remember the title of, but is sung by Dolly Parton and Brad Paisley. one of the lines in the chorus is he put that bottle to his mouth and pulled the trigger, same kind of idea as this song. My struggle is with work and home life balance more than anything else. I do my best to put my best effort into work because we don’t work for human masters, but for God. This seems to mean that my family is almost a distant third priority in my life to work and time needed to decompress after work to rest my eyes after staring at a screen for hours each day. God, please help me to make a way to find time to be intentional with my family this week and show them that they are a high priority on my list of things to do. Father, provide me with clarity on this issue this week. Amen.

  17. Tim M. says:

We are trusting you God with our daughter Sarah, who is battling an extremely rare form of bone and tumor cancer that has misshapen her face. The doctors don’t know how to treat her as her cancer keeps changing and drugs that previously worked to shrink tumors are no longer working. We are praying for your intervention LORD as we have incomplete information and can only do so much to help her. We need you to do what we don’t understand.

  18. Stan says:

-An adult son (28) who has chosen an alternative lifestyle
-An adult son (23)/grad student who is struggling with a mental health diagnosis of bipolar

    • Jason says:

      Hi Stan,

We also are dealing with our 26 year old who has been diagnosed bipolar. He goes through really high days where he knows everything and says he is moving so fast (in his mind) and low points where you can tell by the tone of his voice (eeore from Winnie the pooh). They are working on getting him on a mood stabilizer. I just saw “a purpose driven life” book on TBN last night. The author is Rick Warren and his family went through a similar situation.

  19. Dave says:

Dear God, thank you for revealing Psalm 31 into my life today. It has been almost 3 years since my divorce. Today I am struggling with knowing your plans for me in pursuing a relationship with someone I deeply care about. Please bring clarity through scripture and through a men’s retreat I’ll be attending next month.

Clarity in how to best care for my dad, strength in doing so and understanding on his and my wife’s part.

Thank you again Vince for all that you do.

  22. SG says:

What does my life become after divorce? When will my life be put back together? How do I stay above water?

    • Cory D says:

Hey brother I’ve felt your pain. Know that God’s timing is perfect and He will carry you through.

    • David says:

I have felt your pain and walked in your shoes. Life will get better – I am now 6 years out and I see the path that God has put me on. You may consider reading Jeremiah 29::11 daily or Proverbs 3:6 . Both helped me through my pain and struggles

      • SG says:

David, thank you for giving me hope through your testimony. it’s been a little over a year, recovery and rebuilding is painfully slow and embarrassing at times. I will reflect on the passages you have suggested. I appreciate you!

Take care brother, God is leading you, let him.

      • SG says:

Nick, thank you for giving me perspective further down the line on what’s to come. I am encouraged to hear that there us support and life can and will get better. Thank you

    • Graham says:

I know exactly what you are going through because l also went through a divorce! You have to take it 1 day at a time and to realize that this too shall pass. Let God lead you and find some men that have went through this also. I don’t know your situation but my ex just came home and said she was leaving and wanted to be single again and do what she wanted to. She had friends that were divorced or single and went to parties and bars and she started going with them and staying out all night! Anyway l thought l was going to die it hurt so bad when she told me it was over and nothing l could do to stop her. This is where you have to trust God to help you! He will restore you and you will be happy again!!!

      • SG says:

Graham, I really appreciate you identifying with me. Albeit my circumstances of my divorce is different, the pain and process is the same. Some days are better than others. I am trusting in God to help me through. Sometimes I can see better days ahead and other days I feel trapped and can’t move forward. I have found godly men that have gone through divorce, they are extremely helpful and provide great encouragement. Thank you for sharing, it really helped me.

    • Vince Miller says:

God, may your relationship with David be stronger than ever. Give him a connection with you that is beyond all human relationships and fulfill him in ways that people do not! Amen
